One day mummy hare fell ill. Fluff made up his mind to find for her some medicine.
He wandered around until he reached the apple orchard. Fluff burst into tears: “My poor sick mummy! Where can I find medicine for her?”
“Don't cry, Fluff,” one of the apples said. “Bring me to your mother – I'll make her better.” So that's what Fluff did.
His mummy hare had a clever idea: she kept the apple seeds and planted an apple tree in the meadow.
From then off, Fluff made all the inhabitants of the wood better with apples.
Apples stopped the little mouse and the big bear getting too fat.
They made the hedgehog's heart better.
Mummy hare fed her guests with tasty dishes made of apple. In spring she gave her children tea made with apple blossom, to stop them getting colds.
Fluff grew up and wrote a book about the wonders of apples and other fruits. Mummy hare told to fill the book with delicious recipes too. They want children everywhere to know what tasty, sweet and healthy fruit is growing in the ground.
